I feel the need to continually keep you informed regarding those ‘cleansing bars’ that you are purchasing in your local stores. They are called a variety of names aside from the one I used above – ‘beauty bar’, ‘moisturizing bar’ – anything they can dream up except the word “SOAP” that they are disallowed from using. So, you need to look for a bar that is called soap and virtually nothing else.

Real soap uses extra virgin olive oil in its manufacture….the commercial makers use a much cheaper grade of oil that utilizes chemical solvents that are harmful to your skin. Pure natural soaps will also contain palm oil to help it last longer and, usually, coconut oil for luxurious lather. You need to look for ‘organic extra virgin olive oil’ in the contents section to be certain that you are buying the ‘real deal’ and to help save trees.

Another favorite trick that the commercial guys use is ‘fragrance’.  They insert synthetic fragrance oil into the mix to make their fake product smell better but the chemicals that they use are toxic and will certainly contribute to an increase in skin irritation. They will make these scents sound very correct…but, avoid them at all costs.

The best test of all in the using of any particular ‘soap’ is….if, after using, your skin feels soft, supple, and healthy without any red spots or itch…you are definitely using a handcrafted pure natural soap.

The newest marketing ploy is the introduction of ‘shower gels’ and ‘glycerin soaps’….don’t be fooled ! They sell soaps that supposedly don’t affect anyone with allergies…this, too, is false advertising. I need to inform those of you who believe that by shopping at your nearby health store you can avoid buying fake soaps….WRONG ! Many of the cleansing products that they buy are commercial and will not qualify as pure natural soap.

In closing, check all the ingredients for the key ones shown above and do take the time to search for the REAL natural soaps that cost a little more but, believe me, your skin will love you for the effort.

Thank You
